Company History

Ride and Drive is a small, family business formed in 1988 by Julia Horwood with the aim of providing high quality bridlework and harness for the discerning rider or driver. She trained at Cordwainers College, London and attended further courses in harness and collar making at the Saddlery Training Centre, Salisbury. In 1997 she was accepted into the Society of Master Saddlers and in 2005 became a Master Harness Maker.

She has a very broad knowledge of bits and bitting (lorinery) and has worked closely with an English bit maker to provide a wide range of bit styles and mouthpieces specifically for driving.

In 2024, after 35 years of being a harness maker, Julia took the decision to retire, so over the coming months she will be selling off her stock of synthetic harness, harness parts, driving accessories, hats, whips, books and driving bits.
